Quarter Life Crisis
Happy Festikaquanmas... with many pretty lights!
In case you don't quite get that word up there, it's
Festivus (I know you've seen that episode of Seinfeld), Hannu
ka,
Quanza, and Christ
mas. Oh, and
the lights thing, that's in recognition of the pagan "Festival of Lights" holiday which was celebrated long before Christians decided to plop Jesus's birthday right on top of that "garsh darn heathen holiday". It's honestly where we get Christmas trees and candles in the window to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Pagans were using it as a call to the gods to basically bring back the sun (it was most likely originally celebrated around Dec 21st or 22nd near the winter solstice, the shortest amount of sunlight of the year. Anyway, not trying to be a scrooge. Even though I'm an Agnostic, I still believe in the spirit of the season... peace, love, fellowship, giving, etc. So here's to you and yours! Cheers!
(Happy that I posted now everyone?)
Mayer Sings the Blues
From Rolling Stone's daily newsletter:
JOHN MAYER played a surprise, instantly sold-out midnight show at Los Angeles' Viper Room last night, knocking out jams of JIMI HENDRIX's "Axis Bold As Love" and "The Wind Cries Mary," and even MICHAEL JACKSON's "Wanna Be Starting Something." ZZ TOP guitarist BILLY GIBBONS was moved to jump onstage and shout, "Give it up for my boy!" Mayer replied, "I don't know what the hell is going on. Hello, Mr. Gibbons." The singer-guitarist played until 1:30. "I know I have the best fans in the world," he said, "because they let me play whatever I want whenever I want."
Now let's see if John can do something like that at his next St. Louis show.
More Video Linking... FUCK YEAH!!
Liam linked me to some pretty funny videos yesterday.
The first is
a hilarious flash vid (it's a big file, but well worth it), using the song "America, Fuck Yeah!" from the movie "Team America: World Police". Leave it to the guys from South Park to make the phrase "The Gap.. Fuck Yeah!" absolutely gut busting.
The second vid is for any big fans of Transformers, Gobots, or European cars. Really, it's funny for anyone. Some bad ass dancing. Talk about doing the robot.
L-Train is the Big Winner
I wanted to see if anyone would notice that I purposely spelled "October" as "Cocktober" in the archives section of my blog. It took someone exactly 1 month and 1 day to spot it, and that someone was
Liam. Whoo Hoo!
The Past, Present, and Future of the Net
April linked me to this
really cool flash video that highlights some of the most important events in the history of the internet and establishes some interesting ideas about where it is headed with some really specific predictions. Check it out if you have time.
Thanks to
Tales from The Great White North for the link.
